In modern web development git seems to be the version control system of choice. Even though it is popular a lot of people only know the 5 main commands and are happy with them. In this talk I stepped through some does and don’ts of working with git, so advanced features and talk about team workflow with git.
A US-based retailer of home goods reached out looking for a way to improve their staging and deployment workflow. Their code was hosted in Bitbucket and they were excited about what Bitbucket pipelines could do for their processes. I built out a custom pipeline process to build and push code automatically to staging when code is merged to master, and added additional controls to then push the code live when they were satisfied with their testing on the staging server. Having an automated sandbox environment to test and experiment in has proved to be very beneficial for their business.

My attempt to come up with Git workflow model that would be best for Magento & eCommerce projects.
Working with our partner agency, I was tasked with providing a fully responsive Magento Enterprise theme to replace the legacy fixed width and mobile specific themes for Missguided.
This gave us the opportunity to assess the site, make changes to our workflow and improve our relationship with our design team to launch the new design. We also introduced Grunt as our preferred automated build tool, alongside Sass and Bourbon to speed up our CSS development.
Alongside the new design, we introduced a pattern library to use as a live code and design reference for employees within the business, allowing them to easily copy and reference code snippets if they needed.
